"What is the problem?" You would ask. And the problem is that all search engines including fancy google are just useless. Every time you will search for something they will give you stupid search results absolutely irrelevant to you and to your search request. Why is it so?
Let's see how eCommerce "works" comparing to real stores.
When you want to open small business in your small town, you just rent some office/store/warehouse, do some preparations and open. Yes, open is enough to start making money. Even in the smallest town thousands or hundreds of people continuously will pass by your store, some of them enter, some buy your products/services. Your success depends on the quality, your quality and professionalism.
Now, if you do the same on Internet it goes absolutely different. Opening the website is like opening the store in the middle of a desert. And if you want to make even smallest money you have also to build the highway, airport, hotels, restaurants etc... You have to build small LasVegas. Only then you might start thinking about making some money.
And why is that? Because when people do search for "photo", they get millions of links from all over the world but no link on the local photo store website, which is just few blocks away from your house. Getting links on even most "international" and big websites like Amazon.com is useless too, Amazon.com doesn't (!) sell all over the world, this company doesn't sell in Israel (!) for example, meaning DOES NOT, at all. So why me, living in Israel, should ever ever get the link on this site anyway? I don't know, but google insist that I will see them all the time I search for camera, book, present for my girlfriend etc.
No good, Google! No good! Actually very bad!
I wonder if anybody out there is thinking about making search engines more friendly for buyers and sellers? Should they think local? Should search engine return websites from my local town first and do not put them in the end of this millions pages list?
It is easy. I am telling you, it is! Add a meta tag "meta-address" in every page of website. Do search engines prioritise websites according to Internet user location (IP, ZIP Code, etc). And that is it!
Why don't they do that for over 20 years already?
Google, I am asking you actually... We respect you for simplicity, not for stupid low level services like calendar, adsence, adwords or webtools. Be simple and make search simple and useful for us, regular people.
